Job Description


Description

Reporting to the Global Information Security Operations (GISO) team for DELL I/T, the security application analyst will coordinate, administer, manage and monitor the use of system access control, intrusion detection, and threat management systems to identify anomalous events and security infractions that exploit system vulnerabilities. The security application analyst will apply standard remediation processes to mitigate risk for Dell's computing and network infrastructure.



Responsibilities:

The analyst will consult with the global security team to define and implement security applications and components. The analyst will provide 1st level system support for all implemented components and applications, implement break-fix tasks and coordinate infrastructure updates with engineering staff. The analyst will work with engineering staff, 3rd party vendors and senior security staff to resolve more complex problem scenarios.

The ideal candidate will be a strong team player and actively participate in a fast-paced and challenging global environment. Candidates must be able to work independently and demonstrate exceptional organizational and time management skills



Qualifications
Primary responsibilities:

Infrastructure
* Implement security client application changes
* Work with GISO to perform user acceptance testing
* Using "Best Practices" provide Level 1 support for network perimeter level security applications
* Using "Best Practices" provide Level 1 and 2 support for system level security applications
* Integrate information security controls into an environment to identify risks and reduce their impact.
* Respond to requests for service through a trouble ticketing system
* On-going maintenance for existing Network Perimeter Security application

Administrative
* Review and provide updates to "Best Practices" documentation.
* Attend vendor training
* Provides analysis of potential information security risksandrecommends solutions
* Communicates information security procedures to end-users

Operational
* Develop tools with GISO for client maintenance
* Coordinate with GISO to develop and implement tools to improve system compliance
* Escalates to vendors , Security Team, and Engineering through standard escalation processes

Security
* Deploy approved mitigation strategies for wide-scale incidents.





Functional/technical requirements:

* Understands, applies and may adapt fundamental concepts, practices and procedures related to application support.
* Knowledge of common application architectures and designs that optimize performance.
* Understands, applies and may adapt fundamental concepts, practices and procedures related to application support.
* Knowledge of application performance and related troubleshooting and quality procedures.
* Possesses a working knowledge of Dell's business needs.
* Ability to recommend software upgrades and improvements to achieve Dell's goals and objectives.
* Supports security services, implements solution components and assists in the creation of security requirements and components in support of the application security services
* Possesses technical knowledge in various programming technologies such as SQL Server and Microsoft Office
* Possess technical knowledge in various security applications such as Antivirus, Host and Network based IDS, Web Filters and Firewall configuration
* Basic knowledge of legal requirements and business user access rights.
* Basic knowledge of current industry trends and latest technology in information security field.
* Able to develop basic security standards and procedures.
* Basic knowledge of server and desktop configurations as they relate to system security.
* Able to analyze basic security issues, determine cause and impact and identify the corrective action needed to eliminate and prevent the event for the future.
* Able to conduct cost-benefit analysis to justify investment in security controls to mitigate risks


Qualifications and Experience requirements:

* 1-3 years of professional experience (1 year directly related to I/T or functional area) or equivalent combination of education/experience.
* Fluent in English communication
* Certified MCSE preferred
