The InfoSecurity 2002 Capture the Flag (CtF) competition will be played over two days, 24 and 25 September 2002 at one of the rooms specially set up in IMATEC (the venue of the conference).
Rules and Regulations
The CtF computer network shall be set up in one or more rooms in the InfoSecurity2002 venue. The CtF network shall consist of a 10/100BaseT network. Only local access to the CtF computer network will be allowed, therefore all participants of the competition have to be physically present in the competition room to take part.
Participation is free and is open to either individuals or teams. Only registered participants are allowed to enter the CtF game room(s). A team can have up to a maximum of five members but a maximum of three (3) network nodes only are provided for the team.
Participants are expected to bring their own notebooks or computers and are responsible for the safety (physical or otherwise!) of their own systems.
The CtF game will last for two (2) days or until all the flags have been captured, whichever comes earlier. The CtF game room will be opened from 0900 to 2100 for the two days of the competition.
The flags must be captured using technical means only. Social engineering methods are not allowed and will result in the disqualification of the guilty participant.
The Infosecurity2002 organisers wil be allowed to present to the Infosecurity2002 conference delegates the techniques and methods used by the CtF participants, successful or otherwise, to capture the flags.
The overall winner shall be the individual or team who, in the opinion of the CtF organisers, have captured the most number of flags in the shortest time. The organisers' decision is final and no appeals are allowed. The organisers also reserve the right to change the rules and regulations as they see fit during the game.
Further details and updates on the CtF may be posted from time to time to the Infosecurity 2002 website as well as emailed to the registered participants.
