Salam all,

Saya ada masalah nak memahami pasal server consolidation ni. It's quite new for me so, harap-harap ada guidance dari yang pakar.

1. Hyper-V
2. Redhat OS
3. Vmware

So, sekarang ni tengah baca-baca sikit pasal 3 solutions ni. Thanks :)

1. Hyper-V - MS nye virtualization
2. Redhat OS - guna xen or kvm
3. Vmware - vmware nye virtualization, market leader

Key word - virtual machine. In a nut shell that's consolidation.

Cluster - semua yg atas ada cluster - abis tu kalau taknak cluster kalau server down tak kesah no prob. Tapi dengan ada virtualization software cluster are much more simplified.

Sedang guna Vmware Vsphere, versi Essential Edition, License utk 6 processor.
Pros: banyak documentation, industry standard, centralize management (vcenter), support byk OS
Cons: nak beli server kena pastikan ada dlm hcl, kos license mahal gak.

Kalau hyperv pulak,
Pros: kos license lebih murah, hardware support lebih luas
Cons: tak byk support OS lain selain windows dan suse, centralized mgmt kena tambah license, less performance dari vsphere(dlm 20% less)

Open source punya virtual suite belum pernah guna lagi.

proxmox ve. AKu tgh guna benda ni. Free dan mudah.

aku dah guna kebanyakan product VM di pasaran. proxmox is the best.

Tapi proxmox ni takde tool untuk server management such as HA, etc.

Cuba try dulu, baru tau. Aku recomend sangat2.

Aku ada 2.6Ghz Quad Core with 20GB RAM = 70 Unit. Consist of 280 Processor.
Semua managed guna proxmox.

Format dan install. Manage guna web untuk kesemua nodes.

p.s: tak perlu install vm infrastructure, virt-lib, etc.
licenses fee: FREE, opensource based on debian

these virtualizations only good for not-very intensive apps. When deal with graphic intensive app, please avoid it at any cost
